Learning About Allergies and Asthma

Hello, my name is Rodney Turner. Welcome to my website about allergies and asthma. As a kid, I could not go through the spring months without suffering from back to back asthma attacks. The asthma attacks usually started when my pollen allergies flared up. As doctors linked these two conditions, I was given medication to better control my attacks and improve my health. On this site, I will explore the link between allergies and asthma, plus talk about the treatments available for both of these conditions. Please feel free to visit my site daily to arm yourself with the knowledge you need to overcome allergies and asthma. Thanks.

Six Safety Mistakes to Avoid When it Comes to Your Child's Toys

Toys are important for keeping kids entertained. However, they can potentially be hazardous if parents aren't careful. Parents need to avoid safety mistakes when giving and maintaining their child's toys. The following are six toy mistakes parents need to avoid to keep their kids safe:

Allowing your child to play with toys that have sharp edges

Sharp edges can be hazardous to children. It's best to completely avoid giving children toys with sharp edges until they are old enough to avoid injury from them.

Giving toys to your children that they are too young for

A child's toys need to be age-appropriate. Whenever you acquire a toy for your child, you should consider how able your child is going to be to appreciate according to his or her age. You should also consider any potential hazards the toy could create for a child who is too young to recognize those hazards.

Being unaware of toy recalls

It's a good idea to check out the news regarding any toy recalls if you are a parent. Recalls are put out when a toy is defective. Sometimes, the defect of a recalled toy is a safety hazard.

Allowing young children to play with toys with small parts

One of the biggest safety hazards when it comes to toys are small parts that can be choking hazards. Children need to be old enough that they no longer have a tendency to teeth and put objects into their mouth before playing with toys with small parts.

Not noticing frayed cords on toys that need to be plugged in

Special care should be taken when it comes to electrical toys. It's important to make sure that all electrical parts are in good shape to avoid shocks and fire hazards.

Perhaps the most important thing to do with electrical toys to keep kids safe is to check cords to make sure that they haven't become frayed over time. Toys with frayed cords should be disposed of if the cord cannot be adequately repaired.

Keeping toys in chests that can pinch fingers

As a parent, you no doubt are looking for ways to keep your child's toys organized. While having a container for toys is important, you want to make sure that the container does not include a heavy lid that could potentially pinch your child's fingers.

Kids are always going to want to be able to get in and out of their toy container independently, so make sure they can do so without any safety risk. If your child is injured while playing with their toys, reach out to pediatric services such as Ada Pediatrics PA.
