Learning About Allergies and Asthma

Hello, my name is Rodney Turner. Welcome to my website about allergies and asthma. As a kid, I could not go through the spring months without suffering from back to back asthma attacks. The asthma attacks usually started when my pollen allergies flared up. As doctors linked these two conditions, I was given medication to better control my attacks and improve my health. On this site, I will explore the link between allergies and asthma, plus talk about the treatments available for both of these conditions. Please feel free to visit my site daily to arm yourself with the knowledge you need to overcome allergies and asthma. Thanks.

Three Lifestyle Changes That Help Battle Candida Overgrowth

Everyone has candida fungi in their intestines, and you need a certain number of these organisms in order to bolster your immune system and keep "bad" bacteria and fungi at bay. It is not uncommon, however, for people to end up with an overgrowth of candida in their bodies. Candida overgrowth can cause an array of symptoms, including nausea, bloating, and thrush. If you think you may be suffering from candida overgrowth, there are some simple lifestyle changes you can make that will help bring your body's candida population back under control.

Cut back on sugar.

Candida, like all yeast species, feed on sugar. If you have a high-sugar diet (as many Americans do), this could be one reason why you're experiencing candida overgrowth. Removing as much sugar from your diet as possible will effectively "starve" the fungus.

Cutting back on sugar is not as simple as it sounds. Not only do you need to avoid putting sugar in your coffee and consuming sugary items like candy and soda, but you need to read all food labels carefully. Many processed foods like crackers and frozen meals contain added sugars even if they do not taste overtly sweet. You may have an easier time avoiding sugar if you steer clear of processed foods entirely and consume mostly whole, natural foods like lean meats, whole grains, and fresh produce.

Get more rest.

When you're not well rested, your immune system suffers. It becomes less effective at keeping the growth of organisms like candida in check. So dedicate yourself to getting better rest going forward. These tips will help:

  • Give yourself a bedtime. When you go to bed at the same time each night, you'll have an easier time falling asleep, so you'll get more sleep overall.
  • Take naps when you're tired. Instead of struggling through the day when you're exhausted, take time out to recharge.
  • Keep your room dark. You'll get more restful sleep in a dark room than when light is streaming through the windows or from your TV screen.

Fight stress.

High levels of stress also impede your immune system and contribute to candida growth. Find an activity, whether it be yoga, jogging, reading, or something else entirely that makes you feel relaxed and at ease. Participate in that activity regularly to help keep your levels of stress under control. If you have a lot of ongoing stress related to your job or a family situation, consider speaking with a therapist. Talking about what is stressing you will help ease your worries and concerns, leaving you feeling like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.

If you're suffering from symptoms of candida overgrowth, make the changes discussed above as soon as possible so your health does not continue to decline.
