Learning About Allergies and Asthma

Hello, my name is Rodney Turner. Welcome to my website about allergies and asthma. As a kid, I could not go through the spring months without suffering from back to back asthma attacks. The asthma attacks usually started when my pollen allergies flared up. As doctors linked these two conditions, I was given medication to better control my attacks and improve my health. On this site, I will explore the link between allergies and asthma, plus talk about the treatments available for both of these conditions. Please feel free to visit my site daily to arm yourself with the knowledge you need to overcome allergies and asthma. Thanks.

3 Ways To Treat Prostate Cancer

If you have prostate cancer, then it is time to start exploring your treatment options. Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancers that affect men. It can also be successfully treated. Only 1 in 36 men actually dies from prostate cancer. Read on to find out how to treat this disease.

Try High Frequency Sound Waves

The high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment uses high frequency sound waves that targets your body tissues. It heats up the tissues and kills them. Here is how this treatment works on prostate cancer. Your doctor targets the area that contains the cancer with the high frequency sound waves.

The prostate is located deep inside of your pelvis. For this reason, international HIFU is administered using a probe. The ultrasound probe has to enter your rectum to reach your prostate. From this position, the ultrasound aims a direct beam at your prostate. This treatment is best used when first diagnosed with cancer or when it has come back after an earlier treatment.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy is another way to treat prostate cancer. This treatment uses high levels of radiation to kill prostate cancer cells, to keep cells from dividing and to keep them from growing. It also minimizes damage to your healthy cells.

The radiation is created from a machine. Your doctor uses a small plastic tube to direct the radiation to the cancer infected area. Radiation therapy put radioactive implants into your tumors.

Take a Surgical Approach

Prostatectomy is a surgical procedure that removes a portion or the entire prostate. It is done by making an incision into your abdomen and removing your prostate. Your prostate is located behind your pubic bone. The urethra is stitch to your bladder so that your urine can flow. Your surgeon also has to insert a catheter into your bladder. The urine flows automatically out of your bladder into a collection bag. It takes a few days for your body to get use to this new setup. A prostatectomy is a very complex surgery. It should be done by somebody with a lot of experience.

Prostate cancer is a serious disease. However, it helps to fight and understand that you have options. Doctors treat prostate cancer in a variety of ways. You should schedule an appointment with your doctor. He or she can help you find the right treatment plan to improve your health.
